Hinojosa Blog: Lauren is ONE!

Lauren,

Mommy accidentally blinked and you were no longer a baby but a one year old toddler. :( Blinking is as natural as you growing up to be a beautiful and independent girl (yes, already trying to be independent)! I have been preoccupied with your first birthday party and I'm up to my ears in tissue pom poms and banners hoping that everything turns out perfectly. None of that matters (well it matters a little because I spent a lot of time on it) as much as knowing you are officially a toddler and not a baby. That's right, I said it, you are no longer a baby. You are ONE YEAR OLD and loving it. But as long as we are alive, whether you are 1 or 21, you will forever and ever be our baby girl. God creates miracles every day and only you were created for mommy and daddy to love you unconditionally and only you were created as a spunky little sister to your amazing big brother.

At ONE YEAR OLD, you:

Weigh 27 lbs 11 oz (99%) and 30 inches (80%)
Wear size 4 diapers and size 18-24 clothes
Wear size 5 shoes (still a little big)
You now have 8 teeth (12 to go) and still teething.
You are drinking regular (2%) milk ~ YAY, no more formula!!
You are finally clapping ~this was a work in progress for many months, but you got there on your own terms. Now you clap all the time!
You are walking non-stop :)
You can stand after falling (which you do a lot of falling) all by yourself without crawling to furniture or walls for assistance
You love almost every fruit, but I think you love to eat just about anything (except for baby food)
You can say "hi", "bye","yay", "papa", "agua" and "mama" and starting to repeat words like "car", "ball", and "leche"
You especially love your ball pit and still love to play with big brother's cars
You are starting to blow kisses which melts my heart
You are really really fast at going upstairs!!!!!!
You no longer lie still when changing your diaper...not cool!
You love bath time and hate getting changed after bath time
You LOVE to brush your teeth and everyone else's teeth with your toothbrush ~ kinda yucky.
You have officially thrown a "real" tantrum over your toothbrush and it was scary to watch (see video below)
Within the last week prior to your birthday, the tantrums have been more and more common and yes, I am scared of whats to come! Diva in the making??
Your favorite song (maybe because I sing it) is "I'm a Little Teapot"
You are getting into Bubble Guppies and you still love Baby TV
You are responding to commands from the cartoons. Too cute to watch!!
You had your first lollipop and honestly were not too crazy over it, instead you kept holding the lollipop in your hand. I think you were exploring the sticky texture.
You tried your first pickle and it was the much expected reaction.
We took your 1st year pictures on 8/24 and had a major booboo on your face but you were such a trooper afterwards!
You are really really starting to dislike ponytails, sorry kid, I'm not going to stop ;)
Your brother is constantly doting on you and making sure you are safe (for the most part)
You have been the cutest, spunkiest, feistiest, inquisitive, cuddly, and perfect baby for your 1st year of life and we are just loving every minute of being with you!
